| $^{1}$R. L. Sams and W. B. Olson, J. of Mol. Spectrose. 84, 113 (1980).. Author Institution: Molecular Spectroscopy Division, National Bureau of Standards; Molecular Spectroscopy Division, National Bureau of Standards. The $\nu_{2}$ and $\nu_{3}$ bands of HOC1 have been studied with $0.004 cm^{-1}$ apodized resolution using the NBS DA3 002 BOMEM Fourier transform spectrometer. The $\nu_{2}$ band has been studied $previously,^{1}$ while the high resolution spectrum of the $_{3}$ band is reported here for the first time. Although both a- and b-type transitions are permitted for both bands, only a-type transitions were observed. Transitions of both the $^{35}$C1 and $^{37}$C1 isotopic species were assigned. Results for the $\nu_{2}$ band are generally in good agreement with the results of Sams and $Dlson^{1}$; however, due to the higher resolution avialable in this study, we were able to extend the line assignment to the K-7 transitions. The K-5 levels of the $\nu_{2}$ band of the $^{35}$C1 species were found to be perturbed. This perturbation arises from an X-Y Coriolis resonance with the K=4 levels of the $2\nu_{2}$ state. The observed transitions were fit using a Watson S-Reduction Hamiltonian including terms through $P^{8}$. The molecular constants will be reported. | |||||||||
