Modified KFVS (m-kfvs) Method (2004)

Abstract
Modified KFVS KFVS Method Anil Lambda and Deshpande Introduction The kinetic flux vector split scheme kfvs upwind scheme which belongs the family Boltzmann equation based numerical schemes has been demonstrated very robust and has been applied many problems practical interest The kfvs scheme based the moment method strategy where upwind scheme developed the Boltzmann level and then taking suitable moments arrive upwind scheme for the Euler Navier Stokes equations capture the discontinuties crisply and for resolving various flow features numerical scheme should have less dissipation The usual first order kfvs scheme found more dissipative resulting smearing discontinuties However higher order accurate schemes have been employed for better accuracy and for reducing the numerical dissipation considerably control the dissipation the first order kfvs scheme Deshpande has suggested modified way CIR splitting namely MCIR splitting the molecular velocity introducing dissipation control function Using the above idea and with suitable functions for the dissipation control function low dissipation and single point shock capturing kinetic schemes have been developed recently this paper present low dissipative modified kfvs kfvs method based MCIR splitting with molecular velocity dependent dissipation control functions Lambda CFD Centre Dept Aerospace Engg IISc Bangalore India Email anil aero iisc ernet yEMU JNCASR Bangalore India Email smd jncasr Basic theory kinetic schemes now explain
