APPLICATION OF GAS LASERS TO STUDIES OF FUNDAMENTAL MOLECULAR AND ATOMIC PROCESSES. (1998)

Abstract
Measurements related to important aspects of molecular energy transfer and vibrational relaxation in CO2 are continuing. Pressure dependence is determined in detail. Measurements of the motional narrowing of the line profile of the spontaneous vibrational Raman scattering in H2 are completed. Propagation of short pulses through a resonantly absorbing medium is studied both theoretical and experimentally. In this connection, transmission behavior of 10.6 micrometer CO2 laser radiation pulse is examined in gaseous SF6 at varying pressures and new pulse reshaping features are observed in SF6 and explained theoretically.
