Composite Reinforced Gun Barrels. (1998)

Abstract
A composite reinforced gun barrel with a composite of a titanium, nickel, or FeCrA1Y alloy matrix reinforced with round filaments or rectangular ribbons made of molybdenum or tungsten. The composite layer may be bonded directly onto the barrel or it may be bonded to a steel jacket which can then be heat shrunk onto an existing gun barrel.
