| Prediction of the Behaviour of Rockfill Materials (9999) | |||||||||
Abstract | |||||||||
| Theoretical justification supported by experimental evidence from the published literature is presented for evaluating the properties of prototype rockfill material by testing the modelled material formed by geometrically reducing the size of the particles. Results of isotropic consolidation and consolidated drained triaxial tests carried out up to high confining pressures on 3 sizes of calcite are presented. An approach to predict the volumetric strains due to isotropic consolidation and the stress-strain relationship is presented. The predicted stress-strain curves agree reasonably with the experimental curves. (AA) | |||||||||
