| Knowledge-Based Systems in Artificial Intelligence. (9999) | |||||||||
Abstract | |||||||||
| This book details two major research projects in the area of artificial intelligence. These projects explore the methodology and technology of designing, constructing, and operating a system. The first is AM, which deals with paradigms of mathematical discovery and scientific research, starting with a knowledge base of elementary set theory concepts and a number of heuristic rules. This work has been done by Douglas Lenat. The second is TEIRESIAS, which examines the problems of building and using knowledge-based systems, and the use of meta-level rules. In particular, it is interested in the acquisition of knowledge from experts, the addition of that knowledge to its data base and the control of its use. This work has been developed by Randall Davis. (Author-mod). Q3135.D38; ISBN 0-07-015557-7. | |||||||||
