Development of a Spindle Thermal Error Characterization and Compensation Sensor System for Machining Center Accuracy Enhancement (2006)

Abstract
Automated Precision Incorporated under contract with Wright Laboratory's Manufacturing Technology Directorate has developed a low cost, real-time, sensor/computer based, high performance spindle thermal modeling and compensation system for production computer numeric control (CNC) machining centers. This sensor based system is designed to measure spindle thermal error which, when corrected, improves precision machining accuracy. Machine tools, Sensors.
