Useful design recommendations from a pattern-based usability inspection. Empirical evidence (2006)

Abstract
Recently we introduced a novel method for usability inspection, which is based on usability patterns. The Usability Pattern Inspection (UPI) is hypothesized to have some advantages compared to established usability inspection meth-ods. In particular it is designed to produce detailed and clear design recom-mendations in addition to mere identification of usability problems. Here we present the results from two empirical studies to show, that the UPI is effective in giving useful design recommendations.
