Effect of accidental beam losses on the ATLAS pixel detector (2005)

Abstract
The ATLAS pixel detector has been designed to sustain a dose of 500 kGy. This favors the survival of the detector in cas of accidental beam losses at LHC. Measurements confirm that the ATLAS pixel detector can survive to LHC beam losses with minimal or no deterioration of performence.
