| Piezoceramic actuators are characterized by the capability of large scale integration and very high reliability. In the sense of a mechatronic approach the implementation of a self-monitoring system on a component basis is appropriate. Starting from the categorization of the failure modes of piezioceramic actuators the basic prerequisites for a condition monitoring system are derived and the interaction of the actuator with other compoments of the mechatronic system are described. The derived monitoring apporach is based on the continiuous monitoring of the electrical driving signals. Using these measurement signals the state of the actuator can be described and critical working conditions can be identified. The approach is illustrated by an example. © TEMA | |||||||||||
