| In this paper, we present some new technologies for in contact systems to achieve higher linear recording density for Hard-Disk Drives (HDDs). An important result for the in-contact slider was obtained, i.e., available slider mass extends to several milligrams which indicate that a conventional process technology can be applied. As a result of new pad design and lubricant materials to enhance attractive force between the head and disk surfaces, small mechanical spacing of 3 nm was confirmed. The heads with a critical load to achieve a zero-wear showed excellent wear performance. A prototype of contact HDD was well functioned on the head tracking. | |||||||||||||||
