Gp-music: An interactive genetic programming system for music generation with automated fitness raters (1998)

Abstract
In this paper we present the GP-Music System, an interactive system which allows users to evolve short musical sequences using interactive genetic programming. We also present an extension which uses a neural network to model a users preferences, then stands in for them during the evolutionary process. The use of this ‘automated fitness rater ’ allows the system to operate both with and without user interaction. 1
