| In the experiment E760 performed in the Antiproton Accumulator at Fermilab we have studied the two photon decay of the j c (1 1 S 0 ) charmonium state formed in ¯ pp annihilations. This resulted in a new measurement of the mass, M jc = 2987:5 \Sigma 2:9 MeV=c 2 , of the product of branching ratios, B(j c ! ¯ pp) \Theta B(j c ! flfl) = (35:4 \Sigma 7:6) \Theta 10 \Gamma8 , and of the product B(j c ! ¯ pp) \Theta \Gamma(j c ! flfl) = (8:4 +3:5 \Gamma2:4 ) eV. In the same experiment we also performed a search for the process ¯ pp ! j 0 c (2 1 S 0 ) ! flfl over a limited range of center of mass energies. Since no signal was observed, we quote upper limits on the product of branching ratios B(j 0 c ! ¯ pp) \Theta B(j 0 c ! flfl) in the center-of-mass energy range 3524 p s 3686 MeV. 1 INTRODUCTION The properties of the paracharmonium groundstate, j c (1 1 S 0 ), and of its first radial excitation, j 0 c (2 1 S 0 ), are of great interest but have not yet been adequa... | |||||||||||||||
