Bioinformatique de l’Architecture des Plantes (2008)

Abstract
• Statistical and probabilistic properties of patterns (also called words or motifs) have been of considerable interest in DNA sequence analysis 1. • Most of the proposed methods rely on Markov chains (high order) to represent the local dependencies in the sequences. • In the framework of Markov chains, various methods have been proposed to find patterns with unexpected frequencies 2 or to study the distances between two successive occurrences of a given pattern 3. 1 See Reiner et al. (2000) for a review 2 Prum et al. (1995)
