Abstract | |||||||||
| Preservation, a core focal area for digital repositories, has become more important with the number of born digital materials increasing by the year. With platforms such as EPrints providing the technology behind the repository there is a strong movement for better integration between the dynamic desktop and the controlled environment provided by the repository. In turn there is a demand for the repository itself to be integrated more tightly with the web and web2.0 services without loss of local control. In this talk we look at EPrints 3.2, the start of a major push towards end-to-end integration in this manner. We look briefly at the outcomes of the Preserv2 project which have now been taken on by the new EPrints Preservation team. Finally we look forward with the p2-registry and KeepIt! projects each of which is looking at the future of digital preservation in EPrints and being able to provide a much richer and more accessible set of tools to the repository manager. | |||||||||
