| Abstract: There is a new trend in digital signal processing. It is gradually recognized that while the processing is done in the digital domain, its performance must be measured in the analog domain. This framework was proposed by the present authors and co-workers, and also recently proposed by Unser and his co-workers. While our approach relies on modern sampleddata control theory which minimizes an analog H ∞ performance criterion, Unser independently proposed an oblique projection method. This paper examines their method, and shows that their method often leads to instability of designed filters. A comparison with the sampled-data method is made, along with some design examples, which shows the advantage of the sampleddata method. 1. | |||||||||||||||
