| Efficient Residential Consumer Device Interaction With Network Services (2009) | |||||||||||||||
Abstract | |||||||||||||||
| Abstract — Consumer access networks are low bandwidth, especially in the up-stream direction. This asymmetry is heightened for real-time multimedia applications. The web wait is not acceptable when in a conversational interface. We describe the use of KPML, a protocol for transporting user stimulus. We illustrate the application of KPML to a typical consumer activity, accessing information sources over the telephone. We include results measuring KPML against other protocols for transporting user stimulus. + Index Terms — Consumer network services, tele-control, telephony. | |||||||||||||||
