| Intrinsic Cone Adaptation Modulates Feedback ciency from Horizontal Cells Cones Fahrenfort Habets Spekreijse and Kamermans From the Graduate School Neurosciences Amsterdam and The Netherlands Ophthalmic Research Institute Amsterdam The Netherlands and Department Visual System Analysis University Amsterdam Amsterdam The Netherlands t t Processing visual stimuli the retina changes strongly during light dark adaptation These changes are due both local photoreceptor based processes and changes the retinal network The feedback pathway from horizontal cells cones known one the pathways that modulated strongly during adaptation Although this phenomenon well described the mechanism for this change poorly characterized The aim this paper describe the mechanism for the increase ciency the feedback synapse from horizontal cells cones show that train ashes can increase the feedback response from the horizontal cells measured the cones threefold This process has time constant and can attributed processes intrinsic the cones does not require dopamine not the result changes the kinetics the cone light response and not due changes horizontal cells themselves During ash train cones adapt the mean light intensity resulting slight depolarization the cones The time constant this depolarization will show that this depolarized membrane potential light induced change the cone membrane potential induces larger change the calcium current than the unadapted condition Furthermore will show that negativ | |||||||||
