Large Surface X-Ray Pixel Detector (2002)

Abstract
Large Surface Ray Pixel Detector Delpierre Berar Blanquart Boudet Breugnon Caillot Clemens Mouget Potheau Valin Abstract large surface semi conductor photon counting pixel detector being built first step this detector optimized for ray crystallography The aim provide high dynamic range high counting rate per pixel and fast image readout full custom chip has been produced and tested and results will presented Prototypes with pixels have been built together with full fast readout system These prototypes have been tested the beam line the ESRF synchrotron Grenoble France for different photon energies KeV The signal well out the noise until KeV will give results the efficiency function the photon rate and the effect the threshold the efficiency between the pixels Furthermore demonstrate the large dynamic range made diffraction images will then describe the camera that are building and our future plans HOTON THE CHALLENGE The aim build crystallographer without the limitations the current CCD based detectors that needs low temperature reduce the noise the noise integrated during the readout the dynamics limited about bit for the ray detection light converter mandatory fast shutter needed control the data taking time With pixel detector the challenge the following sensitivity pixel needed see satellite peaks noise hour per pixels dynamic range bit counters electronic control data taking time few counting rate from photons second pixel dimensions cm real time study frame frames local
