| Hepatitis Virus Genotypes They Play Role the Outcome HBV Infection See Article Page epatitis virus HBV has been classified into genotypes based intergroup divergence more the complete nucleotide sequence Figure illustrates the geographic distribution HBV genotypes but existing information incomplete data many parts the world are not available are based very small numbers patients studied Additionally the distribution HBV genotypes may vary with time and with population migration demonstrated recent study the United States Furthermore subtypes have now been identified within some genotypes the years since our last editorial there has been explosion knowledge the literature the epidemiology HBV genotypes and their association with hepatitis antigen HBeAg seroconversion activity liver disease and treatment response HBV Genotypes HBeAg Seroconversion and Outcome Chronic HBV Infection Most the information the clinical significance HBV genotypes has been based studies patients with chronic HBV infection Asia Because the preponderance genotypes and Asian countries the studies are restricted comparisons patients with these two genotypes Nevertheless such comparisons provide very important information the relation between HBV genotype and and the rate progression liver disease since the age the onset infection presumed the same perinatal period the vast majority patients These studies clearly showed that compared genotype HBV genotype associated with spontaneous HBeAg seroconversion y.
